You can’t tell from the pictures on the website how they look, but you can probably tell from a photo of the pair on your mum’s foot: she has a pair of trainers on, one on each foot.
This is not an unusual sight in the US, where women’s footwear is still seen as a commodity, a luxury, and women in particular are expected to walk around in heels that look like a pair from a mid-century fashion show.
But in the UK, where shoes are still seen to be considered an essential element of femininity, they are not.
“A lot of people have a very strong sense of their femininity,” says Jenny Lister, a fashion writer for the Guardian and author of the forthcoming book, The Women’s Shoes Guide: Why Men and Women Love Them.
“They are the symbols of what they believe to be femininity.

When I visited Lister’s house in London, she showed me the shoes she bought from the store that day, which she called “the ugg boot”.
The ugg, she said, was the only pair of heels I’d ever seen on sale.
“I just thought that it was a strange thing to buy from the website,” she says.

The shoes, which are made from an ultra-soft material called polyester, are made in China and the US by Japanese company Nike, which makes some of the highest-end footwear in the world.
It’s an important part of the story, but there is still much to be done to get the word out about the ug boot.
“It’s definitely not a luxury,” says Lister.
“There are other shoes that have the same look and feel that are also sold at the same price as the ugg.”
In some cases, there’s even a link between the ugliness of a pair and the brand.
“Sometimes, the ugh that they wear is the brand they’re buying from,” says Jennifer Daugherty, who has written extensively about the shoe industry.
“So a pair that’s sold at £150 from a Japanese company might look a little more like the shoe from a pair on the same model sold by Adidas for £200, which has the same name.”
The shoes come in two versions.
The ughs are made of leather with a “bump heel” or rubber sole, which can add a touch of luxury to a pair.
But the ugs are also made from a soft material called nylon and come in a range of colours, from the traditional black to a light blue and white.
Daugoughts work out that a black ugg shoe can sell for between £90 and £150, while a white one costs between £80 and £110.
There are also other ways in which the uggy can be different to a shoe from Adidas.
In the US they’re often made from high-quality materials and made of nylon, but in Britain, for example, they’re made of synthetic materials that can be cheaper to make, so it’s less expensive for people to buy them.
In addition, shoes made by other shoe companies tend to have a “shoe tag”, which identifies the manufacturer and a small logo on the shoe’s heel.
“People are more likely to buy a pair made by Nike because of that tag,” says Daugher.
“Then if you see a pair with a tag like that, that’s a sign that you might want to get a pair by Nike.”
In the UK and US, a person can buy ugg footwear online or by calling a retailer.
But a number of online stores and other online retailers sell ugg shoes for less than the price of the ugger.
In Australia, the UK or the US there are also a number or online retailers that sell ug shoes.
And some stores sell ught boots for less, or offer an extra pair of boots.
“When I talk about the price, I’m not talking about the shoes themselves,” says Sarah Gorman, a footwear expert at The Good Company.
“My focus is the tag, the look and the colour.
“It is a bit like owning a luxury car,” she adds. “
Some people say it’s a bit of a vanity item, but that’s because they’ve been told that it’s an iconic item.”
